Crafting Gratitude: Twine Pumpkins and the Gift of Togetherness

After seeing my friend Summer at Hammons Nest make the most charming twine pumpkins, I knew it would be one of our next creative projects. A few days later, we walked into a thrift shop and spotted three twine spools sitting together on a shelf just waiting for us. I smiled, knowing that was a little God wink. And the best part? Only 75 cents each!

That afternoon, my mom, MG, and I sat together around the table, each with our own twine spool in front of us.

Creating Our Twine Pumpkins

We started by tying three cinnamon sticks together and gluing them into the center hole of the twine spool just deep enough to anchor them securely. Those became our pumpkin stems.

Then came the fun part – decorating! We each had the same pile of fall goodies to choose from, but as we began gluing pieces in place, something beautiful happened: every pumpkin took on its own personality.

One had more berries, one had a few extra leaves, and one was simple and sweet. Just like us … all starting with the same base, yet each creation uniquely our own.

The finishing touch was a scrap of muslin fabric stamped with the word “blessed.” We tucked it into our pumpkins like a tag of truth. It was a sweet reminder of what this season (and every season) really is.

What This Craft Reminded Me Of

As we laughed, shared glue sticks, and compared our pumpkins, I couldn’t help but think about how creativity connects generations.

It’s more than making something pretty… it’s about creating something together. It’s the conversations that happen while the glue dries, and it’s the laughter that fills the room as ribbon sticks to fingers.

We connect over the quiet joy of creating something that reflects both who we are and the love that ties us together.

Every time I look at our twine pumpkins lined up on the table, I see more than just a craft. I see legacy – a reminder that blessing is often found in the simple act of creating together.

Creative Reflection

So, to sum up – take time this week to create something that brings your family together — even if it’s simple.
The beauty of handmade moments isn’t in perfection; it’s in participation.

And as you craft, remember:
Blessed isn’t just a word we stamp — it’s a way of living.
